Playful Food Education Sessions in Winchester for Children Aged 4–8

Each 60-minute session is designed to build exposure to real food and confidence in interacting with it — whether by touching, smelling, preparing, or tasting. Sessions are hands-on, low-pressure, and backed by food science and storytelling.

Join a one-off taster, book a themed 3-session journey, or complete the full 5-week series. All sessions take place in small groups (max 6 children) every 3/4 weeks on Fridays at 5PM in the small hall of the Weeke Community Centre in Winchester, Hampshire.

🌾 From Seed to Supper - Friday 3rd October 2025 at 5pm
Explore how food grows — from soil to plant to plate. Build confidence through food mapping, sensory sorting, and seasonal tasting.

🌈 Eat the Rainbow - Friday 24th October 2025 at 5pm
Discover how different food colours help our bodies and Belly Bugs. Feel more confident around new fruits and vegetables through creative cold cooking activity.

🦠 Belly Bugs & Gut Health - Friday 7th November 2025 at 5pm
Meet your microbes! Learn what Belly Bugs do, what they love to eat, and how to keep them happy.

🔍 What’s Really in My Food? - Friday 12th December 2025 at 5pm
Become a label detective and compare ultra-processed vs whole foods to build food awareness and trust.

🧑‍🍳 Little Chefs in Action - Friday 9th January 2025 at 5pm
Chop, mix and measure your way to independence and confidence in the kitchen — with whole ingredients.

💷 Pricing Options:

Taster Session (First-time only): £5
Pay-as-you-go: £15 per session
Book 3 sessions: £13 each
Book 4 sessions: £12 each

All sessions include:

  • An educational bit on the theme discussed (eg For example, learning where food comes from with a world map and seasonal wheel)

  • A sensory activity (eg smelling, touching and tasting fruits, veg of different shades of green)

  • A cold cooking activity (eg making rainbow skewers or wraps)

  • Some games to strengthen learning (eg guessing which fruits come from which places or which colours benefit which parts of the body)

  • Optional parent notes with tips to continue learning at home
